Beverly Hills 90210 Making A Return

If you haven’t heard yet — we’re sure most have — but America’s favorite zip code is making a return. 90210 that is.

According to a video clip of the show, it’s based around a character named Annie Mills, who moves over to Beverly Hills from Kansas City much like the original lead character Brenda Walsh (played by Shannon Doherty) after her dad becomes the new principal of West Beverly High.

She is supposedly a good kid and student, but we’re sure once 90210 gets a hold of her, she’s gonna have to face the peer pressure just like Brenda.

Jennie Garth, who played Kelly Taylor in the original series, will also return to reprise her role. She thinks … get this … it’s gonna push the envelope. Sure, that’s believable. The first series did, in the ways it introduced teen issues.

“[The executive producers] were telling me what they were going to do with the show and I was [like], ‘Wow! Is that what it is really like out there for teenagers?’” she told Access Hollywood this week. “It’s just a different world and there is just so much accessible to young people now, so there is a lot to talk about now, [a lot] to deal with.”

Going over some of the topics and issues the new series plans to cover, Garth realized her series, in the 90s, was not much different.

“When I was talking to the executive producers and getting their take on what they were going to do with the show, I realized that our show, when it was in its original form, was very cutting edge and provocative,” Garth said. “[It] dealt with a lot of really great, great issues that needed to be dealt with for teens at that time.”

New versus the old cast

We do hear that, unlike the original show, Beverly Hills 90210 2.0 will intertwine the teens’ lives with that of the adults, who will also be more involved in the story line this time around.

The theme song is even the same.
